Opera returns for 64th season

Opera in the Ozarks announced its 64th season May 15, which will include 24 fully produced operatic performances in Eureka Springs and Bentonville.

The season runs from June 20 through July 18. A Taste of Opera event will be held Thursday at the Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs to celebrate the upcoming season. The event will include a meal and four performers from Opera in the Ozarks singing Broadway musical classics, Neapolitan love songs and opera arias, according to Opera in the Ozarks website, opera.org.

Twenty performances will be held at Inspiration Point Fine Arts Colony at 16311 U.S. 62 west of Eureka Springs, and all show times are at 7:30 p.m. Mozart's "Cosi fan tutte" will be performed June 20, 25, 28 and July 1, 7 and 16. Puccini's "Suor Angelica" and "Gianni Schicchi" will be performed June 21 and 26 and July 2, 5, 8 and 17. Sondheim's "Into the Woods" will be performed June 24, 27 and 30 and July 3, 9, 14 and 18. Famous Opera Scenes will be presented by Opera in the Ozarks July 15.

Four performances will be at Arend Arts Center in Bentonville. These include Puccini's "Suor Angelica" and "Gianni Schicchi" at 4 p.m. June 29, Sondheim's "Into the Woods" at 4 p.m. July 6, Mozart's "Cosi fan tutte" at 7:30 p.m. July 11 and a special gala concert honoring Jim Swiggart, director emeritus of Opera in the Ozarks, and featuring Latonia Moore, Opera in the Ozarks alumna.
