Bomb Threat Forces Evacuation At West Fork School

WEST FORK -- Police arrested a 14-year-old West Fork Middle School student Thursday in connection with communicating a false alarm and filing a false police report after a student found a threatening message written on a desktop in a classroom.

Students at the school were evacuated for about an hour, said Superintendent John Karnes.

A 14-year-old student at the school later told police he had written the message, Karnes said. West Fork Police Officer Ken Ingalls said the student was charged and was taken to the Washington County Juvenile Detention Center.

"We called the Police Department and followed our emergency procedures," Karnes said.

Parents of students at all three schools were notified with a written message about the situation. Karnes said he also encouraged parents to talk with their students about the seriousness of making such threats.
