No Answers To Why Creation Occurred

This is at least the second time Art Hobson ("The Creation Story: Discovery 'As Big As It Gets," April 27) has plagiarized a Christian movie title in one of his mini-science lessons. Jesus Christ remains the "greatest story ever told." As far as movies go I suggest that his editorials are more reminiscent of the "Wizard of Oz" as he hid behind a curtain and proclaimed himself all knowing.

Hobson believes matter and energy in the universe brought itself into existence without purpose. Much of what Hobson calls theory and evidence is really just hypothesis. He often attacks the idea of God, the creator, while he promotes faith in smaller creator gods of lifeless matter and energy.

I don't believe man can fully explain creation, but we can see it is intelligently designed and is filled with spiritual life and energy. When I look at the wondrous creation around me, I not only see the beauty and complexity of everything with my eyes, I feel it in my soul. My faith is in a living God and I believe my spiritual vision of creation is far more believable than Art Hobson's vision of a lab accident in space.

Mr. Hobson' hypothesis seems to be that he is a soulless being of accidental origin, evolved from mindless single-celled life that formed from an energized chemical soup. He believes all living things developed from the big bang as an accidental explosion of inert matter. Does he also believe that the accidental life forms incidentally developed an intelligence? Is that intelligence simply the result of chemical and biological reactions to stimuli?

Men have used their God-given intelligence throughout history to understand the world around them and mankind has evolved through those discoveries. We will likely continue to discover more about our universe as science advances but we can only know its creator through faith in God. Maybe if Hobson would stop trying to disprove the existence of God he might actually expand and improve his search for answers. So far he is able to tell us about some of the things God created but he cannot explain the how or the why.

There is no greater story than God's creation, a creation filled with life, beauty and wonder. He has filled the emptiness with matter, energy, stars, planets and galaxies. He has breathed life into the earth and He has given man the ability to see and feel the majesty of all He has made. Through science we can examine the building blocks of God's creation with telescopes and microscopes, but its true glory is obvious in looking at the finished product.

Many of us will keep enjoying the view of a vast, intelligent, physical creation filled with spiritual energy and guided by the hand of God. We look to God for the why, the purpose of our lives on earth. You can join us and widen your horizons or you can keep looking through your instruments for the answers to how. Science can't tell you the why.
