1 held in robbery of money, bleach

A Carlisle man accused of robbing an acquaintance of his girlfriend of money, alcohol, bleach and jewelry was arrested Sunday, according to a Jacksonville police report.

About 6:30 a.m. Sunday, the acquaintance, Charles Johnson, was inside his home at 1100 Brewer St. in Jacksonville when a man later identified as Jack Westbrook showed up at the back door, police said. As Johnson walked toward the door, Westbrook forced his way inside and began rummaging through the kitchen drawers, the report states.

According to Jacksonville police, Westbrook found a kitchen knife in one of the drawers and held it to Johnson's chest, "demanding to see the rest of the house." He demanded Johnson hand over $600 "so that he and his girlfriend ... could leave town," the report states. Johnson handed over what he had -- $67.

Taking a bottle of bleach, a bottle of tequila and two gold rings, Westbrook drove to a carwash, where he poured the bleach inside the car and left the alcohol, police said. Westbrook returned the rings when Johnson asked.

After pulling the serpentine belt from the vehicle, Westbrook walked across the street to Daylight Donuts at 1102 W. Main St., where he bought one doughnut and asked the clerk to call him a cab, police said.

Jacksonville police broadcast Westbrook's description, and he was found near Cabot by Lonoke County sheriff's deputies.

Westbrook, 25, was arrested and charged with aggravated residential burglary, aggravated robbery, kidnapping, interference with emergency communications, theft of property and three counts of criminal mischief. He was taken to the Pulaski County jail, where he remained Sunday night.
