SPRING TOUR

Quapaw Quarter's 50th tour covers five restored houses

The 50th Spring Tour of Homes opened the doors on five historic homes around the Governor's Mansion on May 10.

As guests toured each of the beautifully restored homes on the tour, they were guided by Quapaw Quarter Association volunteers, who provided information about each dwelling as well as its original owners.

Guests also enjoyed music by the bluegrass band Interstate Thirty and by pianist Gio Antipollo. Refreshments ranged from sweet peach tea and pimento cheese sandwiches to champagne and Caprese skewers.

First lady Ginger Beebe made a quick tour of the homes before returning to the Governor's Mansion, where a dinner for tour guests completed the evening. She and professional garden designer P. Allen Smith were honorary co-chairmen.

Hosted by the Quapaw Quarter Association, the tour continued the next day with the addition of tours of the mansion's gardens and Smith's city garden.

The mission of the Quapaw Quarter Association is to promote the preservation of Little Rock's architectural heritage.
