The (Sauk Valley) Daily Gazette in Sterling reported Thursday that eight women and four men were chosen for Nicholas Sheley's latest trial. Jury selection is expected to continue today to choose four alternates.

The judge also denied a motion from Sheley attorney Jeremy Karlin to move the trial because of what he called a biased jury pool.

Sheley, 34, has pleaded innocent in the deaths of 29-year-old Brock Branson; 20-year-old Kilynna Blake; her 2-year-old son, Dayan; and 25-year-old Kenneth Ulve.

Sheley still faces trial in the July 1, 2008, deaths of Tom and Jill Estes of Sherwood, who were killed as they arrived at their motel in Festus, Mo.

Sheley is serving two life sentences for the murders of a Galesburg man and Sterling resident.
