Harding’s Riley invited to mini-camp

Former Harding defensive end Daniel Riley has been invited to participate in the Seattle Seahawks’ rookie mini-camp beginning Friday in Seattle. Riley, a native of Compton, Calif. who was a high school teammate of Seahawks’ cornerback Richard Sherman, earned first-team all-Great American Conference honors as a senior. He had 38 tackles and led Harding with 10 sacks and 13.5 tackles for loss.

ATU women tied for eighth

Taylor Kline shot a 2-over 73 and is tied for ninth individually, while the Arkansas Tech women are in an eighth-place tie in the team standings after Wednesday’s opening round of the NCAA Division II Championships in Conover, N.C. Kline is three strokes behind individual leader Tina Yang of California Baptist. The Golden Suns shot 311 as a team, putting them 17 strokes behind Lynn University’s opening-round 294. Rebecka Surtevall shot a 7-over 78 and is tied for 37th place, Megan Jeffery shot an 8-over 79 and is tied for 46th whle Carolina Fredensborg and Jessica Sachs each shot 10-over 81 and are tied for 55th place.

UCA Sports Hall of Fame adds members

The University of Central Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame announced seven new members Wednesday who will be inducted this fall.

Aundra Bohanon was an All-American and two-time All-Arkansas Intercollegiate Conference defensive back who played on conference championship teams from 1985-1988. Kenneth Davis was a four-time NAIA All-American and four-time All-AIC performer in track and field from 1986-1989. James Dickey, who coached last season at Houston, also coached Texas Tech to a Southwest Conference championship and served as an assistant coach at Arkansas and Kentucky under Eddie Sutton. Charlie Eagle was a four-time All-AIC basketball player at Arkansas State Teachers College from 1958-1961. Kevin Ervin was a two-time All-AIC selection and an NAIA All-American who ran on the national championship 1,600-meter relay team in 1986. Danny Hazelwood was a four-year letterman in football and a three-year letterman in track and field from 1960-1964.

The new members will be inducted into the Hall of Fame on Oct. 11 in Conway.

Hendrix’s Radack earns top honor

Senior Collin Radack of Hendrix College was named the Southern Athletic Association’s Man of the Year, the league’s highest award for a male athlete, on Wednesday. Radack is a four-time first team all-conference selection as an outfielder and was named the conference’s player of the year this spring. He also earned all-West Region third team honors as a junior and was a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree. Radack holds the Hendrix career records in eight categories, including triples (13), runs scored (163), stolen bases (81) and fielding percentage (.992).
