Fayetteville 4, Greenwood 3 (9 innings)
Cody Davenport delivered his second game-winning hit in as many games, as the Fayetteville junior helped make Senior Night a success with a triple in the bottom of the ninth to score Blake Power as the Purple'Dogs edged Greenwood in a nonconference matchup on Tuesday.
Fayetteville (29-3) honored its five seniors, Kyle Pate, Will Hardgraves, Duck Dunn, Brandon Cueva and Jay Bushelle, before the game, then watched as a game almost slipped away against Greenwood. After building a 2-0 lead through and getting Greenwood down to its final out in the seventh, Davenport -- on in relief of Walker Powell -- allowed a walk a three consecutive singles as Greenwood rallied for a 3-2 lead. Power would force extra innings with a one-out double in the bottom of the seventh, before Davenport's eventual game-winner in the ninth.
Pate (9-2) pitched the ninth inning to get the win, as Fayetteville extended its win streak to 15 games entering the Class 7A state tournament.

Arkansas 4, NW Arkansas 3
The Naturals staged a late rally, but came up a little short in a one-run loss Tuesday night to the Arkansas Travelers in Dickey-Stephens Park in North Little Rock.
The Naturals out-hit Arkansas 11-8, but could not overcome a four-run fifth inning for the Travelers (18-20).
Whit Merrifield led the Naturals (15-23) at the plate, going 3-for-5, including his fifth home run of the season in the fifth inning. Mark Threlkeld and Edinson Rincon each had two hits and Rincon drove in 2 runs.
Alex Yarbrough drove in three runs for the Travs.
Tim Melville (1-3) took the loss for Northwest Arkansas, allowing 6 hits and 4 earned runs in 5 innings. Orangel Arenas (3-1) earned the win, allowing just 1 earned run over 5 innings.
The loss ended a four-game winning streak for the Naturals. The two teams will meet at 11:05 a.m. today in the third game of the four-game series. The Naturals will return home Friday for two games against Tulsa.
