Fourth Fire Station On Bella Vista Agenda

Monday, May 12, 2014

BELLA VISTA -- Planning Commission members aim to take the city another step toward building a fourth fire station today.

The regular meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. in the Fire Department training room at Town Center.

Items on the agenda were forwarded from the work session scheduled for April 30. The meeting was canceled due to lack of a quorum.

The group will discuss a lot split for the land designated as the site of a fire station off Forest Hills Boulevard near Buckston Road.

City officials in March voted to purchase a tract of land from Village Bible Free Evangelical Church, which owns the 37-acre parcel.

Church representatives propose subdividing the lot into two smaller tracts of 32.7 and 4.31 acres. The smaller tract will be the site of the fire station, while the larger one will be the site of the church's planned building.

Since there is dedication of rights of way and easements involved in the split, the City Council also must review and accept the request, said Chris Suneson, planning director. He recommends approval of the project with no conditions.

The commission will vote on the project today, then the issue can be discussed in a council work session May 19 and voted on by aldermen May 27.
