Wild Wines of the World pours out zoo critter fun

Wild animals (and their handlers) lined the walkway to Cafe Africa for the Reserve Room kickoff of the Little Rock Zoo's Wild Wines of the World. The event, held May 3, offered guests a close-up view of several friendly critters including an owl, an opossum and a penguin. The special pre-party featured wine tasting paired with food from Cache.

At the Reserve Room, several people received special thanks and were presented paintings -- created by a zoo animal -- including first lady Ginger Beebe, who received a painting by the elephant Babe.

Afterward, general admission ticket holders sampled wine and food from around the world. More than 40 area restaurants participated in the event, with O'Looney's Wine & Liquor donating the wine.

Besides the wine and food stops in the zoo, guests also enjoyed a variety of musical acts including Rodney Block and the Real Music Lovers. Scott Hanayik served as event chairman and Reserve Room chairman was Maradyth McKenzie.
