Radio station: 49ers forever in blue jeans

Just when it seemed like the rivalry between the fan bases of the Seattle Seahawks and the San Francisco couldn't get any more heated, Seattle radio station KJR-AM raised the bar.

Earlier this week, KJR announced that it will refer to the San Francisco 49ers as the Santa Clara 49ers.

The 49ers are moving from Candlestick Park to Levi's Stadium, a $1.3 billion stadium that will open this fall in Santa Clara. Santa Clara is 40 miles south of San Francisco, which has led to KJR having its on-air hosts refer the 49ers as being from the San Jose suburb.

In fact, KJR even released a proclamation declaring its new stance:

"Whereas, the Seahawks-49ers rivalry is the backbone of the NFC West, providing young and old with the fire to maintain an unequaled 12th man frenzy.

"Whereas, by equipping the 12's with continuous ammunition to stoke that fire for a productive future.

"Whereas, by keeping watch over 49er irregularities which would be cause for enthusiastically expressing a precious insult.

"Whereas, a show of sympathy to a city entrusted to endure the mockery of a new stadium named after a pair of jeans.

"Now, therefore and forever longer, Sports Radio 950 KJR, proudly serving as your home for the 12's in Seattle, Washington, will from this day forward continually refer to the scarlet and gold, formerly from San Francisco, as the Santa Clara 49ers!"

Former Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren is in favor of the proclamation.

"It's funny," he said on KJR on Tuesday.

Malcolm Smith's interception of Colin Kaepernick sealed the Seahawks' 23-17 victory over the 49ers in January's NFC Championship Game in Seattle. The Seahawks went on to win their first Super Bowl two weeks later against the Denver Broncos.

Seattle travels to "Santa Clara" on Thanksgiving, Week 13 of the season, for the teams' first meeting since the NFC Championship Game. The teams are scheduled to meet again two weeks later.

Clean talk

Los Angeles Angels pitcher C.J. Wilson was recently interviewed by David Brown as part of Yahoo Sports' Answer Man segment.

Among one of the topics discussed was Wilson's Head & Shoulders' commercial.

When asked if he could still be a shampoo model without being a major-league pitcher, Wilson said: "Oh, I dunno. I think I have pretty decent hair but I don't think modeling will be a full-time job for me. But if someone was to discover me at the mall and recruit me if I wasn't a baseball player: 'You there, with the hair!' You, the regular brown-haired white guy, you should come with me and take photos.' I'd be, like, 'Sure. You don't seem like a creepy person with a van.' "

On if he scrubs his eyebrows with shampoo: "The eyebrows thing, it's more of a wipe than a scrub or anything like that. You've got to look around and see if there are people with really weird eyebrows, because that's probably a grooming thing. If you don't see anyone, you might be the guy with the weird eyebrows. The NBA player from Kentucky, I forget his name."

Brown told Wilson he was thinking of former Kentucky Wildcats player Anthony Davis, now with the New Orleans Pelicans.
