2 women charged in auto burglaries

Two women were arrested Thursday after admitting to stealing hundreds of dollars' worth of clothing, cash, wallets, tools and prescription medication in a string of North Little Rock car break-ins, according to arrest reports.

Hallye Turner, 21, told investigators that she couldn't remember what items she had stolen from some vehicles "because there were so many" that she and 2Dawna Gifford, 27, had burglarized, the report says.

Between March 26 and April 10, the two purportedly broke into multiple vehicles at the Overbrook Apartments, 5901 JFK Blvd., and County Club Apartments, 770 North Hills Blvd.

They also admitted to burglarizing vehicles in the 2000 block of Topf Road and 4800 block of Ridge Road, according to police.

In addition to clothes, medicine and money, Turner and Gifford took two birth certificates, a Carnival Cruise Lines boarding pass and a Carnival "Sail and Sign" credit card from a vehicle, according to the reports.

Gifford purportedly told police that she acted as a lookout during some of the break-ins.

She and Turner were each charged with three counts of breaking and entering. Neither was listed on the Pulaski County jail roster late Thursday, which was the 10th day in a row that the facility was closed to nonviolent offenders because of overcrowding.
