BENTONVILLE -- David Deggs, executive director of Downtown Bentonville Inc., has resigned to accept a position as director of adult and community education with Fayetteville Public School System.

His resignation will be effective June 1, according to a news release.

Deggs will remain with Downtown Bentonville through May.

Deggs served as executive director of the organization that promotes quality of life and economic development since October.

Downtown Bentonville's board will choose a new executive director as soon as possible, according to the release.

"The DBI Board of Directors appreciates David's time with the organization, and we wish him every future success," said Brenda Anderson, board president. "Our very capable and experienced DBI staff will continue to provide Downtown Bentonville with excellent programming and services."

Lisa Beebe, Downtown Bentonville's business operations manager, will act as the primary contact for administrative issues and will provide continuity during the leadership transition.
