FAYETTEVILLE -- A convicted sex offender was sentenced Tuesday to 15 years in federal prison without the possibility of parole for downloading child pornography.

James Keith, 42, of Siloam Springs, was also fined $25,000 and given 15 years of supervised release following his imprisonment.

Keith pleaded guilty to one count of receiving child porn.

"Today's sentence sends a strong message that our office will not rest until those that commit such vile acts against innocent children are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law," Conner Eldridge, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Arkansas, said.

"The number of videos and images found in this case is unsettling as each time those videos and images are downloaded or viewed, these children are re-victimized. This defendant, a registered sex offender, has now been brought to justice," Eldridge said.

According to court documents, Homeland Security agents and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force in Northwest Arkansas searched Keith's home for child pornography on March 5, 2013. Law enforcement confiscated Keith's computer and other digital storage devices.

A subsequent examination of the devices revealed multiple images and videos of child pornography. Keith was interviewed and admitted downloading child pornography from the Internet and saving the images to his computer and digital storage devices.

At sentencing the government presented evidence Keith told law enforcement he possessed about 70,000 images of child pornography, including some depicting children as young as 5 years old being sexually assaulted.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Dustin Roberts prosecuted the case. U.S. District Judge Timothy L. Brooks presided over the sentencing.
