After receiving a call about a suspicious vehicle, deputies responded about 4:14 p.m. to the dead end of Higgins Switch Road at Woten Lane. They found a white Buick LeSabre in the woods nearby. The vehicle had been reported carjacked in Little Rock earlier Monday.

Deputies reported that the vehicle appeared to be unoccupied. But while they were waiting on Little Rock police to arrive at the scene, the car's brake lights illuminated. The deputies ordered whoever was inside to get out of the car.

That's when James Rainey, 20, and another suspect purportedly exited the car and began running east. Rainey was pursued for about 300 yards through the woods, across a set of train tracks and onto Luther Lane, where he surrendered.

The unidentified suspect was not apprehended.

Rainey and the other suspect are accused of taking the car at gunpoint and forcing the woman to ride in the back seat for a period of time. They took her cellphone before letting her go, according to a police incident report.

Rainey, who police reported is homeless, was charged with aggravated robbery, false imprisonment, theft of property and fleeing.

He was not listed on the Pulaski County jail roster late Tuesday.
