BENTONVILLE -- A Pineville, Mo., man was sentenced to 25 years in prison after he admitted he sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl.

Dennis Lee Myers, 52, pleaded guilty to sexual assault in the first degree, a Class A felony; and sexual assault in the second degree, a Class B felony.

Myers originally was charged with rape, but Stuart Cearley, chief deputy prosecutor, agreed to reduce the charge under a plea agreement with Myers' attorney Mike Roberson.

Myers was arrested Oct. 17, 2011. The 15-year-old girl told a school counselor about sexual abuse allegations involving Myers, according to court documents. The counselor reported the allegations to the Arkansas State Police Crimes Against Children Unit. The case was then referred to the Pea Ridge Police Department.

The girl was interviewed at the Children's Advocacy Center of Benton County where she said Myers raped her while in his vehicle at Pea Ridge City Park.

Myers, when questioned by police, said he had sex with the girl in his pickup.

Myers was arrested three days later in connection with the sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl. She was interviewed at the Children's Advocacy Center and said Myers touched her inappropriately on different occasions.

Cearley told Judge David Clinger that the girls are aware of the plea agreement.

Clinger accepted the plea agreement and Myers' guilty pleas. Myers was sentenced to 25 years in the Arkansas Department of Correction for sexually assaulting the 15-year-old girl. He received a 10-year suspended sentence for sexually assaulting the other teen.

Myers received 928 days of credit for the time he's spent in the Benton County Jail awaiting a trial. He will be required to register as a sex offender.
