Supply-chain meeting studies analytics

The Supply Chain Management Research Center of the Sam M. Walton College of Business will present its 13th annual conference 8 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. April 23 at the Donald W. Reynolds Center for Enterprise Development, 145 N.

Buchanan Ave. on the University of Arkansas campus in Fayetteville.

This year’s theme is Analytics Driving Supply Chain Transformation. Keynote speakers for the event are Dhiraj Rajaram, founder, chairman and chief executive officer of Mu Sigma; Mickey Mericle, vice president for Global Consumer Insights and Analytics at Wal-Mart; and Keith Mercier, global retail transformation leader of IBM Watson.

Topics to be discussed at the conference include Embarking on Decision Sciences and Analytics and How Cognitive Computing Will Transform Retail As We Know It. There will be numerous breakout sessions on topics such as how advanced analytics are changing global supply technology, using business intelligence in transportation and logistics, and the role of value stream mapping in the application of predictive analytics.

Cost is $350 for the first attendee from a company, $300 each for two, and $250 for three or more; academic or nonprofit attendees pay $200 each.

Arvest division ranked by equipment site

Arvest Equipment Finance, a division of Arvest Bank, ended 2013 with $132.3 million in loans and leases. This is an increase of 8.1 percent from $122.3 million in 2012.

Arvest founded the division seven years ago.

The division ranked among the top 100 largest equipment finance and leasing companies in the United States last year by MonitorDaily, a website for the equipment leasing and finance industry. The Monitor 100 is published annually and ranks the largest equipment leasing and finance companies based on net assets and new business volume.

Team of 3 firms wins marketing award

Saatchi & Saatchi X partnered with Wal-Mart and Procter & Gamble to earn two awards at the Shopper Marketing Effie Awards ceremony held recently in Chicago. The team has won 10 of the awards since the trophies were first presented in 2011. This year’s awards are for the Tide Pods and Crest Pro Health Toothpaste and Oral B Power toothbrush campaigns at Wal-Mart.

The awards are presented for delivering the most effective and integrated retail campaigns that solve shopper marketing challenges and lead to a retail purchase.

AARP honors Village Insurance program

Village Insurance earned the inaugural “Top 100 Host” award handed out by AARP Driver Safety. Village Insurance has supported AARP Driver Safety by collaborating with local volunteers to host its classroom-based driving refresher course designed for drivers 50 and older.

Village Insurance offered 22 courses last year, reaching 517 people in Northwest Arkansas, and was one of 25 businesses receiving the recognition.

The company has offices in Bentonville, Bella Vista and Clarksville.
