Two Men Arrested In Springdale Meth Sale Case

SPRINGDALE -- Two men were arrested Thursday after police officers set up a drug buy.

Hector Manuel Martinez, 26, of 3504 Shook Drive in Springdale was arrested in connection with felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia and distribution of a controlled substance near certain facilities.

Julio Cesar Figueroa, 26, of 2200 Bridgestone Ave. No. 206 in Springdale was arrested in connection with felony possession of a controlled substance.

Officers met Martinez at Brookhaven Apartments after a phone call to set up a buy for 2 ounces of meth, according to a preliminary arrest report. After he was arrested, officers found 85 grams of methamphetamine and a meth pipe in his pocket. Eighty-five grams is about 3 ounces.

The buy would have been within 1,000 feet of a day care center and two school bus stops, according to the report.

Figueroa was a passenger in Martinez' vehicle. Officers found 0.8 grams of methamphetamine in his pocket, according the report. Two other passengers in the vehicle were released.

Martinez was in the Washington County Detention Center on Friday in lieu of $3,500 bond. Figueroa was in the Washington County Detention Center on Friday in lieu of $2,500 bond.
