The War Eagles blew a big early lead but finished strong to win the consolation bracket of the Hall of Fame National Classic on Friday in Pompano Beach, Fla.

Kacey Murphy went 2-for-5 with four RBIs, including a go-ahead two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth for Heritage (7-2). Logan Easley, Daniel Sanchez and Jacob Kent also drove in three runs each. Easley, Brandon Norris and Colton Wetzler chipped in two hits each.

Dalton McKaughan picked up the win, allowing five runs (four earned) over 4 1/3 innings in relief. The senior struck out five and didn't walk a batter, allowing just a run in the final three innings.

Heritage, which won its third consecutive game after losing its opener in the tournament, led 12-2 after two innings but trailed 15-14 going to the bottom of the fourth. Murphy's two-run homer gave the War Eagles the lead for good and added four more in the bottom of the fifth to hold on for the win.

The War Eagles get back to 7A/6A-West Conference play when they host Bentonville for a doubleheader at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Har-Ber Game Suspended

Springdale Har-Ber continues to battle the weather at a baseball tournament in Little Rock.

On Thursday, Weston Rogers struck out 12 to lead Har-Ber to a 3-1 victory against El Dorado in a first-round game. Matt Garrison had a hit, scored a run and stole a base for the Wildcats.
