Housing developer purchases land in LR

A Birmingham, Ala., developer of upscale multifamily properties has bought land in the Riverdale section of Little Rock from Winrock International for $2.58 million.

The property is at the intersection of Cedar Hill and Brookwood Drive. The deal closed March 13.

The land has been used as a soccer field for many years, Mike Myers, chief financial officer for Winrock International, said Friday.

Efforts to reach the buyer, LIV Development, were unsuccessful, but Myers said the idea is to build “a high end complex.”

Among the properties the LIV website lists is the Ridge at Chenal Valley, a 312-apartment facility that opened in August 2012.

Conservation agency offers project grants

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service is seeking applications for matching grants through its Conservation Innovation Grant program, which has $250,000 available for the development and adoption of conservation technologies.

Eligible projects - which can last from one to three years - include nutrient management, pest management, crop irrigation, livestock watering, invasive species and soil health. Projects funded through the program are expected to use new approaches for proven technology that can be incorporated into technical manuals and guides, as well as for potential use in the private sector.

The deadline for project proposals is April 30. Selected projects can receive grants for up to 50 percent of a project’s cost, with individual grants capped at $75,000.

Applicants must provide the remaining funds, of which 25 percent must be nonfederal cash sources. The remaining 25 percent can come from in kind contributions.

Grants will be announced starting June 13. More information on the grant program is available from Lori Barker, manager of the state innovation grant program, at (870) 523-8986 or [email protected] . Information about the request for proposals and related forms are available at www.grants.gov.
