Weather postpones UA baseball game

Arkansas’ series-opening baseball game against Mississippi State scheduled for Friday was postponed because of the threat of inclement weather in Starkville, Miss.

The teams will make up the game as part of a doubleheader today. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Dudy Noble Field.

Arkansas (16-8, 3-3 SEC) has won five consecutive, and is coming off a three-game nonconference sweep of Mississippi Valley State.

Mississippi State (18-9, 4-2), ranked No. 16 by Baseball America and Collegiate Baseball, is 6-2 over its past eight games and has won its first two conference series against Georgia and Vanderbilt.

Arkansas junior left-hander Jalen Beeks (3-2, 1.56 ERA) will start the first game today against Mississippi State sophomore right-hander Preston Brown (3-0, 1.12). The Razorbacks will send sophomore right-hander Trey Killian (1-3, 2.36) to the mound in the second game against MSU junior left-hander Ross Mitchell (4-1, 1.66).
