Fayetteville Worker Injured After Fall From I-540 Bridge

FAYETTEVILLE -- A highway construction worker was seriously injured but alive after a work accident Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Interstate 540 and Porter Road.

Between 2003 and 2010 there were 639 highway construction workers killed at road construction sites in the United States, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Nearly half were attributed to a worker being hit by a construction vehicle, such as a dump truck.
