Excitement afoot on shoe-store trip

With a free pair, some kids walk on air after LR shelter’s shopping trip

Zadie Farrell, 10, (left) and Amaiya Thornton, 8, pick out shoes at a Payless ShoeSource store at 11400 W. Markham St. in Little Rock on Thursday. Our House took 55 children who are enrolled in the homeless shelter’s out-of-school program to the store, where they were treated to a pair of shoes.

Barely 4 feet tall, Lillian Vandett immediately rushed over to gawk at the high heels.
