Fayetteville 9, Colorado Springs (Colo.) Pine Creek 6

Cody Davenport allowed just one earned run and three hits in 5 1/3 innings, and helped his own cause at the plate going 3-for-4 with a home run and 4 RBIs as the Bulldogs improved to 3-0 at the Coach Bob Tournament in Phoenix, Ariz., on Tuesday.

Fayetteville belted out 14 hits in all in the win, with Andy Pagnozzi and Grant Koch also provided three-hit games.

Walker Powell recorded the final out for his first save of the season.

The Purple'Dogs (7-2) face Lake Oswego, Ore., at 2:30 p.m. CT in the tournament today.

Hillcrest, Ala. 10, Bentonville 5

Bentonville's defense was guilty of eight errors and allowed Hillcrest to score 10 unanswered and unearned runs during Tuesday's game in the Gulf Sports Classic 2.

The Tigers (7-2) led 5-0 after two innings, but Hillcrest tied the game with five unearned runs in the third before adding three in the fourth and two in the fifth.

Kasey Ford (2-2) pitched three innings and allowed eight runs -- all unearned -- on eight hits before Payton Fitch relieved. Brian Gloeckler had three of Bentonville's five hits, including RBI singles in the first and second innings.

The Tigers return to action today with two games at Volanta Park in Fairhope, Ala. Bentonville takes on West End, Ala., at 11:30 p.m., then follows that with a 2 p.m. game against Springville, Ala.

Brito Private School 9, Rogers Heritage 2

The War Eagles managed just six singles in the first-round loss to Miami, Fla.-based school in the Hall of Fame National Classic on Tuesday in Pompano Beach, Fla.

Heritage (4-2) scored a run in the second and another in the fourth. Brito broke the game open with a four-run top of the third for a 6-1 lead.

Chase Kilgore was hit by a pitch, moved to third on a bunt single by Ty Harris and scored on a balk for Heritage's first run. Kacey Murphy walked and lscored the War Eagles' other run on a Brito error. He also singled.

Starter Brandon Norris (1-1) took the loss, allowing four runs in two-plus innings of work. Heritage will again at 1 p.m. today.

Phoenix (Ariz.) Pinnacle 13, Rogers High 10

PHOENIX, Ariz. -- A seventh inning rally wasn't enough for the Rogers Mountaineers, who dropped a close decision to Pinnacle High School of Phoenix in the second game of the All-Star Division of the Coach Bob Invitational baseball tournament.

Rogers (5-3) trailed Pinnacle, 13-7, entering the seventh inning, but scored three runs in the frame. Sage White and Timmy Seldomridge led off the inning with a pair of singles, and two outs later Brett Gentz delivered a 2-RBI double to cut the lead to 13-9. Carter Forbis and Brett D'Amico were hit by pitches, loading the bases. Matt Turner drove in another run with a single, but the Mounties were retired with the bases loaded, ending the game.

Rogers trailed 8-3 after four innings, but tightened things up with a four-run outburst in the top of the fifth. D'Amico doubled to get things started and moved to third on Bryce Bray's infield single. After an out, White singled home D'Amico. Grayson Lee, running for Bray, came home when Seldomridge reached on an error. Zach Arrick followed with an RBI-single and Seldomridge later scored on a wild pitch to cut the lead to 8-7.

Pinnacle added three runs in the bottom of the fifth and two more in the sixth.

Gentz and White led the Mounties' 17-hit attack with three hits each. Bray, D'Amico, Seldomridge and Nolan Farnan had two hits each and Derek Sallee added a single.

Rogers takes on Tualatin, Ore., at 12:30 p.m. PDT today in the third game of the tournament.
