EL PASO - Twenty-three race track followers, who had not enough money for railroad fee to Kentucky, were found tonight in a horse car which had been billed through to Lexington, Ky. The valuation of the shipment was $10,000 and the car had been marked “handle with extreme care.” However, the local freight agent opened up the car this afternoon to see if the thoroughbreds had plenty of hay to last until the first stop. He found the men practically covered up under the hay. The entire shipment of hoboes, tents, track followers and penniless stable boys were rounded up and taken to the police station.

The University of Arkansas at Fayetteville will recommend its trustees raise tuition nearly 8 percent this fall for in-state, undergraduate students - the highest increase in seven years. Despite a recent student push to rein in some campus wide student fees, Fayetteville administrators also plan to recommend a rise in mandatory student fees from $23.86 to $25.01 per credit-hour. The UA board of trustees will meet April 2 to consider tuition and fee charges for its campuses statewide. Increases would vary widely depending on students’ residency status, campus, courses and class load.
