Motorcycle crash kills 1, injures 1

A Fayetteville woman died Saturday after a motorcycle crash in Washington County, according to the Washington County sheriff’s office.

Just before 4:30 p.m. Saturday, sheriff’s deputies were called to Wilson Hollow Road just north of the Tilly Willy bridge about a motorcycle accident.

Michael Rogers, 46, of Fayetteville was reportedly driving the motorcycle north on Wilson Hollow Road “at an excessive speed,” when he failed to negotiate a curve, the sheriff’s office said.

The motorcycle became airborne and hit a tree, deputies said.

Rogers was taken to the Washington Regional Medical Center with critical injuries, and his passenger, Amanda Moore, 33, died of her injuries at the scene, deputies said.

The sheriff ’s office said Moore’s body will be taken to the state Crime Laboratory for an autopsy.
