Fayetteville Man Injured, Woman Dies in Motorcycle Accident

A woman died and a man was critically injured at about 4:30 p.m. Saturday when a motorcycle they were riding went airborne and crashed into a tree, according a news release Sunday from the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

Michael Rogers, 46, of Fayetteville was driving the motorcycle north on Wilson Hollow Road at a high rate of speed when his motorcycle failed to navigate a curve. His motorcycle went airborne and struck a tree.

Amanda Moore, 33, of Fayetteville was on the back of Rogers' motorcycle, according to preliminary information from Kelly Cantrell, Sheriff's Office spokeswoman. Moore was pronounced dead at the scene by the Washington County coroner.

Rogers was transported to Washington Regional Medical Center in critical condition.

The accident happened north of the Tilly Willy Bridge. No other vehicles were involved. Neither Moore or Rogers were wearing helmets, Cantrell said.

Moore's body will be sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab to determine cause of death. The investigation is ongoing.
