An attempt to ask North Little Rock voters to decide whether to ban smoking in restaurants and other enclosed areas in the city lighted up Monday night’s City Council meeting for more than an hour, but a conclusion was not reached. Faced with a majority of the City Council in opposition, City Alderman Greg Yielding postponed a vote on his ordinance to eliminate smoking in restaurants, stores, doctor’s offices and many other enclosed areas frequented by the public. The ordinance asks for a referendum on a smoking ban to be placed on the May state primary ballot in North Little Rock.
