GOLF Arkansas women tied for third

Arkansas’ women opened with a 302 and is tied for third with Kentucky after the first round at the LSU Golf Classic at the University Club in Baton Rouge.

The Razorbacks are led by senior Emily Tubert, who is tied for fourth overall after a 1-over-par 73 in the first round. Sophomore Gabriela Lopez is tied for ninth with a 74 and freshman Summar Roachell is tied for 17th with 76. Redshirt freshman Olivia Lavy, playing as an individual, is also tied for 17th with 76.

SOFTBALL Arkansas falls to Ole Miss

Arkansas lost 11-4 to Ole Miss on Friday night at the Ole Miss Softball Complex in Oxford, Miss.

Kasey Fagan and Devon Wallace had home runs for the Razorbacks (21-9, 1-3 SEC), who trailed 4-0 after the first inning. Kelly Young (2-1) took the loss for Arkansas, giving up four home runs.

Casey Hummel pitched a complete-game victory for Ole Miss (18-13, 2-5 SEC).

Arkansas Tech sweeps SAU

Arkansas Tech (13-13, 5-9 Great American Conference) defeated Southern Arkansas (15-13, 10-8) 11-4 and 2-0 on Friday at the Chartwell Women’s Sports Complex in Russellville.

The Golden Suns scored eight runs in the third inning to take a 10-0 lead in the first game. Victoria Huie picked up the victory for Arkansas Tech, giving up 3 hits in 6 innings with 2 strikeouts.

In the second game, Courtney Colunga singled to score Ashley Savage and Ashley Keen for the game’s only runs.

Harding wins two from UAM

Harding (17-14, 9-9) defeated Arkansas-Monticello (18-13, 9-9) 4-1, 3-2 on Friday in Searcy.

In the first game, Harding’s Brookelynn Moon tripled to score Kinsey Beck and Kimmy Hendricks in the first. Amanda Berdon had an RBI groundout to score Heidi Abston in the fourth. Moon stole home in the fifth when Kimmy Hendricks was caught stealing second.

In the second game, Moon and Hendricks hit consecutive home runs in the fourth inning for Harding. Amber Rollins relieved Danielle Hubbard in the seventh and struck out Brittany Ettel to get the save.

BASEBALL UAFS sweeps doubleheader

Arkansas-Fort Smith (12-12, 6-7 Heartland Conference) swept Texas-Permain Basin 2-1 and 11-4 Friday at Crowder Field in Fort Smith.

In the first game, Ryan Justus drove in a run in the first inning and in the third inning, Brennan Rogers drove in the winning run with a single to left field.

In the second game, the Lions scored nine runs in the sixth inning in which they sent 15 batters to the plate and seven had base hits against three Texas-Permain Basin pitchers.

UAM sweeps Harding

Arkansas-Monticello (20-10, 10-7 Great American Conference) swept Harding (16-11, 8-6) 13-3 and 4-0 on Friday at Weevil Field in Monticello.

Henderson sweeps NW Oklahoma

Henderson State(11-9, 6-11 Great American Conference) swept Northwestern Oklahoma State 3-1 and 2-1 on Friday at Clyde Berry Field in Arkadelphia.

In the first game, Henderson’s Andrew Reynolds hit a a three-run double in the seventh inning to win the game.

In the second game, Dylan Howell pitched a complete game, allowing a home run to Jonathan Freemyer in the sixth.
