Hereafter when one mails a parcel post package he can send a letter along with it, not in it, however, but fastened to it, he can mail a gallon of milk, but he must wrap up the corners of sharp-pointed instruments and iron castings so that they will not injure other mail. The local post office yesterday received instructions on these points.

Police motorcyclist Tommy Owen guided his machine to 6th and Louisiana Friday afternoon for a confrontation with Al (Bolo) Lovelock, a professional wrestler. For a split second, Owen was ready to go two out of three falls. The officer is an ex-wrestler so the meeting turned out to be as tame as a ladies’ aid session. Owen had been summoned by Mrs. Mickey Young, a parking meter maid, who had spotted Bolo’s car parked in the vicinity. She had made a check of traffic delinquencies and had turned up Bolo’s license number. Bolo, who tips the scales at 230 pounds, obliged the 5-foot, 4-inch, 120-pound Mrs. Young by going to police headquarters and paying $67.50 in overdue parking tickets. “I didn’t know him,” Mrs. Young said. “But if he had been wearing a mask I’d know him any place,” she said. Bolo in the recent past cavorted in the ring wearing a mask. Mrs. Young had been at ringside many times to boo him.

FAYETTEVILLE - The clock continued to wind down Monday for War Memorial Stadium as University of Arkansas Athletic Director Frank Broyles asked Little Rock officials to begin scrambling for emergency financing. Whether the Razorbacks play a down at War Memorial Stadium next season depends on Little Rock’s game plan, Broyles said. “The repairs would be paid for one of three ways. The city of Little Rock, which profits by the stadium, could pay for it. It could be paid for by the state, or it could be paid for by the University of Arkansas. The state has declined and the university has declined,” Broyles said.

Gov. Mike Huckabee, returning to Little Rock on Saturday after a nine-day trip to Japan, said a Japanese company will announce within a few weeks plans to build a facility in Arkansas. Speaking at Little Rock National Airport, Adams Field, after a 14-hour flight from Tokyo, Huckabee said the company will locate in an area of Arkansas that desperately needs jobs. He declined to disclose the company’s name or its industry sector.
