Armor Up For Adventure

Spring break journeys ignite imagination...

For one week a year, everybody gets to be a kid -- or should, anyway!

But spring break shouldn't mean playing video games in Mom's basement. So we at What's Up! have some suggestions for one-tank road trips that will transport travelers to new and magical worlds -- just like "Elder Scrolls" but live and in person.

At the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, Mo., you can stand in a medieval cloister or under a giant shuttlecock.

At the Museum of Discovery in Little Rock, you can experience a tornado or lie down on a bed of nails.

At the City Museum in St. Louis, you can slide down a 10-story slide.

And at the Pink Palace in Memphis, Tenn., and the Sherwin Miller Museum of Jewish Art in Tulsa, Okla., you can learn about race relations from two very different perspectives.

Even if the weird winter weather threw a wrench into spring break plans, hang on to these four pages. Summer is bound to arrive -- sometime!
