NWA Fishing Report

Beaver Lake: Reports of good walleye fishing are coming from the south half of the lake.

Aaron Jolliff at Hook, Line and Sinker in Rogers said anglers are trolling Flicker Shads for walleye south of the Arkansas 12 bridge. Rain over the weekend has muddied much of the southern portion of the reservoir.

Black bass have moved a bit shallower. Try jerk baits or crank baits 1 to 10 feet deep.

White bass are biting in the back of the Prairie Creek arm, Jolliff said. Try minnows or any lure that looks like a minnow or shad.

Stripers are biting in the midlake area on brood minnows. Monte Ne was a good area to fish earlier in the week. If the area is muddy now, fishing may be slower.

Average water temperature is 44 to 47 degrees.

Garland Villines at Hickory Creek Marina said the south end of the lake is muddy. Before the weekend rain, anglers were catching black bass with jerk baits or square-billed crank baits. Crappie were biting jigs around timber 15 feet deep.

Jason Piper at J.T. Crappie Guide Services said crappie fishing is best up the White and War Eagle tributaries. Fish a minnows, tube bait or grub under a float 2 to 4 feet deep around timber that's close to a channel.

On the main lake, look for crappie to be suspended 2 to 6 feet deep over water that is 20 feet deep. Fish near docks and along bluffs. Good areas to fish include White River arm upstream from U.S. 412 bridge, Monte Ne and Eden's Bluff.

Beaver Tailwater: Lisa Mullins at the Beaver Dam Store said trout are biting Power Bait. Try tipping the bait with a waxworm. Flicker shads are the best lure. Effective flies include woolly buggers, midges and soft hackles.

Lots of anglers are fishing for walleye in the Houseman Access area, but no word in their success.

Lake Fayetteville: No report this week.

Lake Sequoyah: Mike McBride at Lake Sequoyah bait shop said rain muddied the lake, but it should be fishable starting today.

Lake Elmdale: Lucky Key at Duck Camp Fishing Retreat said the best fishing is for crappie and redear. Use a small jig tipped with a piece of red worm and fish 6 to 8 feet deep under a float.

Try jerk baits, jigs or crank baits for bass.

Swepco Lake: Kenny Stroud in Siloam Springs said black bass are biting all types of soft plastics 2 to 10 feet deep.

Bella Vista: Nick Gann at Hook, Line and Sinker in Bella Vista reports largemouth bass are biting jerk baits or Alabama rigs 6 to 20 feet deep at all Bella Vista lakes.

Trout at Lake Brittany are biting small spoons.

Upper Table Rock Lake: Hook, Line and Sinker in Rogers said black bass fishing is best with Alabama rigs.

Eastern Oklahoma: Kenny Stroud in Siloam Springs said black bass at Lake Eucha are biting Alabama rigs, jerk baits or jigs.

The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation said largemouth bass fishing is good along points with Alabama rigs.
