Arrest made days after shots fired in Fayetteville

Police made an arrest eight days after shots rang out in a west Fayetteville neighborhood.

Delvin Salley, 21, of 741 Morningside Dr. was arrested Wednesday evening in connection with engaging in violent criminal group activity and marijuana possession. He was being held Thursday without bond in the Washington County Detention Center.

Investigators have been searching for at least two men after gunshots were fired about 7:30 p.m. March 11 near the intersection of North Chickadee Avenue and West Bluebird Street. The neighborhood of one-story duplexes sits just north of West Wedington Drive near Interstate 540.

Calls from several witnesses painted a confused picture, according to police records. Children were playing in the street when investigators believe at least two men fired at least twice. Some residents later said at least one of the men appeared to be chasing another. No one was injured. Mutlitple .45 caliber shell casings were found in the area.
