GIANTS-ANGELS Hamilton singles in debut

TEMPE, Ariz. - Josh Hamilton had an infield single in his first spring game of the year in the Los Angeles Angels’ 7-6 loss to the San Francisco Giants on Monday.

Hamilton went 1 for 3 for the split squad. The five-time All-Star and 2010 AL MVP has been hampered by a sprained left calf muscle.

Hamilton started a three-run fourth inning against Giants starter Tim Lincecum with a base hit off first baseman Mark Minicozzi’s glove.

Lincecum, a two-time NL Cy Young Award winner, allowed seven hits and five runs in 5 1/3 innings.

Angels starter Hector Santiago allowed three runs in 5 1/3 innings.

San Francisco second baseman Marco Scutaro made his first spring appearance and went 1 for 2.

The Giants scores four runs off Joe Smith in the ninth.

ROCKIES-PADRES Tulowitzki returns

PEORIA, Ariz. - Colorado Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki returned to the lineup Monday after being sidelined by a bruised left calf.

Tulowitzki went 0 for 3 in a 9-7 spring win over the Los Angeles Angels. He also had a fourth-inning throwing error that led to two unearned runs.

It was Tulowitzki’s first game since being hit on the calf by a pitch on Wednesday.

Brett Anderson worked six innings for Colorado. The left-hander allowed five runs, three earned, and eight hits. He struck out five and walked none.

Padres starter Tyson Ross yielded 12 hits and six runs in 41/3 innings.

WHITE SOX-BREWERS Lohse roughed up

Lohse, scuffled in his third Cactus League start, allowing five runs and seven hits in 3 2-3 innings. He walked two and struck out two.

White Sox starter Felipe Paulino had his best effort of the spring, striking out four while scattering three walks and two hits over five scoreless innings.

Richmond’s homer came in the seventh off Brewers closer Jim Henderson.

CUBS-ATHLETICS Athletics scratch Kazmir

PHOENIX - The Oakland Athletics scratched left-hander Scott Kazmir from their spring game against the Chicago Cubs on Monday due to left triceps stiffness.

Brandon Moss and Nick Punto then had two hits apiece as Oakland went on to a 6-2 victory over the Cubs’ split-squad.

Kazmir’s injury isn’t believed to be serious, but he did see an orthopedist.

It was part of a difficult day for Oakland, which lost pitcher Jarrod Parker for the season. The promising right-hander will have elbow ligament replacement surgery next week after an MRI in Florida determined the need for the operation.

Cubs starting pitcher James Mc-Donald threw two pitches and had to leave with right shoulder soreness. McDonald’s second pitch to Coco Crisp sailed over Crisp’s head to the backstop, prompting a visit from manager Rick Renteria and a trainer.CARDINALS-RED SOX
