The 20-voice Navy Band Sea Chanters, the U.S. Navy official chorus, with a three piece rhythm section and Chief Musician Adam Tyler conducting, will perform a program of sea chanteys, patriotic songs, opera, Broadway and contemporary tunes in five Arkansas venues this week (except as noted, all concerts at 7 p.m.; admission is by free ticket):

Celtic ‘explosion’

“Claddagh: An Explosion of Celtic Dance and Music,” incorporating music, dance and multimedia projections featuring East Coast Celtic rock band the Prodigals, will be onstage at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Riceland Hall, Arkansas State University’s Fowler Center, 201 Olympic Drive, Jonesboro.

The show is part of the university’s Riceland Distinguished Performance Series. Sponsor is Occasions Publishing Group. Golf comedy

Chaos erupts at the 43rd annual grudge match between rival golf clubs when the best golfer on the course switches teams on the eve of the competition in The Fox on the Fairway by Ken Ludwig, opening Tuesday and running through April 19 at Murry’s Dinner Playhouse, 6323 Colonel Glenn Road, Little Rock. Shows are at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday (with the exception of 12:30 p.m. matinees Wednesday, March 26 and April 2, no evening shows those dates), 12:30 and 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Million Dollar Piano

Elton John: The Million Dollar Piano will appear on big screens at 7 p.m. Tuesday and March 26 at the Breckenridge 12 in Little Rock, Tinseltown in Benton, Conway Towne Center, Razorback 16 in Fayetteville and the Malco Fort Smith Cinema. The cinecast includes the concert, from the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, and an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the making of John’s 1973 album Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, which Universal Music Group will reissue March 25. Architecture lecture

Mark Lamster, architecturecritic for the Dallas Morning News and assistant professor and Dillon Center Fellow at the University of Texas at Arlington School of Architecture, willgive a lecture titled “Sizing up Architecture: A Critic’s View,” 6 p.m. Tuesday in the lecture hall at the Arkansas Arts Center in MacArthur Park, Ninth and Commerce streets, Little Rock. ‘Sonatas for Two’

Rescheduled after inclement weather forced the postponement of the original March 4 concert, three Arkansas Symphony violinists and two pianists team up for a program of “Sonatas for Two,” 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Great Hall, Clinton Presidential Center, 1200 President Clinton Ave., Little Rock, part of the orchestra’s River Rhapsodies Chamber series.

Meredith Maddox Hicks and pianist Tatiana Roitman will play the Violin Sonata No. 5 in F major, op.24, “Spring,” by Ludwig von Beethoven. Geoffrey Robson and pianist Julie Cheek will pair up for Gabriel Faure’s Violin Sonata No. 1 in A major, op.13. And Cheek and co-concertmaster Andrew Irvin will perform the Violin Sonata in a minor, op.34, by Amy Beach.

Weekend musicals
