ROGERS -- Gina Britton will play collegiate soccer, and she made that official at a ceremony Wednesday at Rogers Heritage, inking her letter of intent to play at Upper Iowa University.

The 5-foot-8 senior hasn't limited herself to only playing soccer at Heritage. Britton, who earned all-state honors a year ago in soccer, was also a three-year letter winner on the basketball team and part of the Lady War Eagles' golf team. She even ran track as a freshman.

But soccer's definitely her first love as she's played club soccer for multiple years with the goal of playing in college.

"I always like to be doing something, so I enjoy playing other sports," Britton said. "But I always look forward to soccer."

Heritage girls soccer coach Craig Frank said Britton has been a tremendous all-around player for the Lady War Eagles.

"She was our offensive MVP the last two years," Frank said. "Gina brings consistency and toughness. She's a rugged player that's also got the finesse."

Britton finished with nine goals and 12 assists a year ago for a team, which lost in the state tournament to eventual champion champion Bentonville. She was also considering Avila University and William Woods University, both located in Missouri. But Upper Iowa coach Brian Diaz saw Britton at an Olympic Development camp last summer and contacted her this year.

"Upper Iowa is a very competitive NCAA Division II program," Frank said."Gina brings consistency and toughness. When the shot presents itself she'll take it or when they clamp down on her she'll distribute the ball. That's an all-around player to know when to take the ball and when to distribute it."
