Bail was set at $500,000 for a Van Buren man who remained in the Crawford County jail Friday on a murder charge.
Eddie Hice, 54, was arrested Thursday and charged with second-degree murder in the shooting death of his father.
Hice and his father, Velbert Hice, 76, lived in the same house. They started arguing early Thursday, Chief Deputy Jimmy Damante said. The argument lasted through the morning. Eddie Hice had been drinking, Damante said.
“It culminated in him getting the shotgun and killing and shooting his father,” Damante said.
Eddie Hice reported the shooting to the sheriff’s office at 1:40 p.m. Thursday, Damante had said.
