Parkview finally beats Hall, carries Little Rock banner

JONESBORO - Little Rock Parkview will try to make it three consecutive Class 6A girls state championships for Little Rock public schools, securing a spot in the Class 6A state championship later this week by knocking off rival Little Rock Hall, last season’s champion, 68-58 on Tuesday afternoon.

Parkview (15-12), the No. 4 seed from the 6A-East, took a 33-27 halftime lead and extended it to 49-39 heading into the fourth quarter against second-seeded Hall, which had beaten Parkview twice during the regular season as well as last year in the state championship game at Barton Coliseum in Little Rock.

Arkansas State signee Christyal Holloway scored 24 points to lead Parkview, making 8 field goals and hitting 8 of 14 free throws. Sausha Davey had 16 points and Jalyn Davis 10 for Parkview, which made 26 field goals, none of them three-pointers.

Hall, which also didn’t make a three-pointer, had four players score 10 or more points: Shakyla Hill led with 23 points, followed by Terralynne Dominick (12), Taylor Collins (11) and Princess Cole (10). Little Rock Hall made 24 of 40 free throws.

Parkview, which was 11-12 before ending the regular season with a victory over Fort Smith Southside, outscored Hall 10-0 to start the second half and led 43-27 before Hall scored on Cole’s field goal to make the score 43-29 with 4:14 to play in the third quarter.

Parkview’s lead slipped to 43-34 with 3:28 to play in the third quarter before Dominick’s three-point play made it 46-34.

Hall cut the Parkview lead to 54-50, with 3:49 left in the final quarter after a field goal by Collins, but Parkview went up 58-51 after two free throws by KeAnna Parker with 3:33 to play, a lead that stretched to 62-51 after a field goal by Kanoesha Wilson with 2:17 to play.

Hall wouldn’t make another field goal until leading scorer Hill made two in the final 24 seconds with the game out of reach.

GREENWOOD 86, SEARCY 58

Greenwood jumped out to a 13-0 lead, led 47-28 at the half, and was never threatened in its Class 6A semifinal victory over Searcy (17-13).

Megan Hartness, one of three Greenwood players to score 20 or more points, led the Lady Bulldogs with 24.

Lundon Williams scored 21 for Greenwood, with four three-pointers, and Haliegh Henson scored 20, including six three-pointers. Greenwood made 13 three-pointers.

Angelina Williams led Searcy with 20 points; Brittnee Broadway and Arabriaun Mack scored 11 each.

The Lady Bulldogs stretched their 13-0 lead to 21-4 with 4:21 remaining in the first quarter before Searcy outscored Greenwood 13-4 to close the gap to 26-17 after one quarter.

Greenwood (22-6) pushed its halftime lead to 19 when Lundon Williams made a three-pointer with 1.2 seconds left in the second quarter.

A three-pointer by Henson with 25 seconds to play in the third quarter made it 71-47 Greenwood.
