— A home invasion about a half-mile north of the University of Arkansas campus ended with an arrest Monday, police said.

Joshua Williams, 20, of 279 N. Betty Jo Drive was arrested in connection with felony aggravated assault, aggravated residential burglary, fleeing and carrying certain prohibited weapons. He was being held Tuesday in the Washington County Detention Center without bond.

Police records showed an apartment resident at 835 W. Lawson St., just west of North Leverett Avenue, called police about 5:30 p.m. Monday. The caller reported a man walked up to him and asked if he wanted drugs. Sgt. Craig Stout said the man also showed a gun in his waistband.

The resident went home, locked the door and called police immediately afterward, according to police records. The break-in happened during the call. The record showed several tense minutes when the caller heard someone in the apartment and couldn't talk to the dispatcher.

Several officers were sent to the scene.

Stout said they saw Williams coming down the stairs holding a gun when they arrived. Williams fled through the back door before being apprehended a few blocks away near Garland Avenue and Mount Comfort Road with a 40 caliber Glock handgun, according to a probable cause report.

Potential motives were unclear, Stout added.
