Hall starts slow, runs away late

JONESBORO - Little Rock Hall moved one game closer to earning a shot at a second consecutive Class 6A state title with a 60-36 victory over Pine Bluff on Monday afternoon at Jonesboro High School.

Taylor Collins led Hall with 16 points, 10 coming in the second half, and Tarralynne Dominick and Shakyla Hill added 12 each for the Warriors, who made 24 baskets, all inside the three-point line.

Little Rock Hall Coach Selita Farr said Collins rose to the occasion.

“She stepped up and did the little things that we needed her to do,” Farr said.

Pine Bluff, held to 13 field goals, got 13 points from Jasmyn Eckerman and 11 from Ajia Richardson.

Pine Bluff led 7-1 early but Hall tied it 9-9 after one quarter and pulled out to a 22-17 halftime lead with Collins scoring six consecutive points to lead the charge.

Pine Bluff (22-7) was no factor in the second half as Hall (20-11) outscored the Fillies 9-0 to open the third quarter to build a 31-17 lead.

“We had to get those jitters out,” Farr said of the slow start. “Once we did we came out ready to play”

It was 39-28 Hall after three quarters, and the Warriors outscored the Zebras 6-0 to build a 45-28 lead, an advantage that grew to as much as 26.

GREENWOOD 80, SILOAM SPRINGS 43

Siloam Springs (18-10) was no match for Greenwood, which produced 30 field goals and 16 free throws.

Greenwood’s Megan Hartness led all scorers with 27 points, with 23 of those points coming in the first half. Haleigh Henson and Lundon Williams each scored 14 for Greenwood.

Greenwood (21-6) led 25-11 after one quarter and 53-24 at the half before leading 74-29 heading into a fourth quarter that had the mercy clock running.

Baily Cameron led Siloam Springs with 10 points.

SEARCY 53, BENTON 39

Searcy (17-12) knocked off Benton (20-6) in the final girls second round game of the 6A tournament winning 53-39 after being tied 9-9 at the end of the first quarter and leading Benton 23-15 at the half. Benton closed the gap to 36-33 after three quarters but it was Searcy holding on for the victory.

Brittnee Broadway led three Searcy players in double-figures with 15 points followed by 14 from Angelina Williams and 10 by Keke Broadway as the three along with nine points from Arabriaun Mack scored 48 of their teams 53 points.

Allison Reynolds led Benton with 23 points followed by 12 from Braxton Chumley, 10 in the second half, for a team that shot six free throws during the game.
