Centerton Man Accused Of Rape

— A girl called 911 to report that she was sexually abused, according to court documents.

Clay Arnold Sollender, 55, of Centerton was being held in the Benton County Jail on Monday on $100,000 bond in connection with rape, a Class Y felony. He was booked into jail at 12:10 a.m. Saturday.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, a 13-year-old girl used a cellphone to call 911 on Friday. She reported that she had been touched inappropriately.

Police went to the home and the girl identified Sollender as her abuser, according to a probable cause affidavit. The girl claimed that Sollender had touched her inappropriately, according to court documents.

The girl also was interviewed at the Children's Advocacy Center where she provided more details of the abuse claims. The girl reported that Sollender had attempted to rape her, according to the affidavit.

Sollender was interviewed by police and he admitted having sexual contact with the girl, the affidavit states. Sollender claimed that the girl told him that it would be their "secret," according to the affidavit.

Prosecutors have not filed a formal charge against Sollender.

Sollender's arraignment is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. April 14.
