Wiggins’ 41 not enough for Kansas

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - Eron Harris scored 28 points, Juwan Staten added 24 and West Virginia withstood 41 points by freshman Andrew Wiggins and a furious comeback by No. 8 Kansas to upset the Jayhawks 92-86 in their Big 12 regular-season finale Saturday.

The Mountaineers (17-14, 9-9 Big 12) led by as many as 25 points early in the second half before watching Kansas tear into the deficit behind Wiggins, who fouled out in the final seconds after setting a season high in scoring.

Freshman Devin Williams had a season-high 22 points along with 13 rebounds. It marked the first time this season that Kansas had allowed three opposing players to score 20 points.

Perry Ellis added 14 points for Kansas (23-8, 14-4), which clinched its 10th consecutive regular-season title a week ago and had little riding on this game. The Jayhawks will have a first-round bye in the conference tournament that begins Wednesday in Kansas City, Mo.

In other Big 12 games, Kenny Chery had 10 of Baylor’s 17 consecutive made free throws down the stretch, finishing with a career-high 29 points and leading the Bears to a 76-74 victory over Kansas State. … Naz Long forced overtime with a 30-foot three-pointer at the buzzer, De-Andre Kane scored five of his 27 points in the closing seconds, and No. 16 Iowa State overcame a 16-point deficit to beat Oklahoma State 85-81 in overtime. … Buddy Hield scored 24 points and 23rdranked Oklahoma clinched the No. 2 seed in the Big 12 tournament with a 97-67 victory at TCU. … Jaye Crockett scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Texas Tech to a 59-53 victory over Texas.

AMERICAN ATHLETIC Cincinnati gets title share

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Sean Kilpatrick scored 24 points and No. 15 Cincinnati clinched at least a share of the American Athletic Conference regular-season title with a 70-66 victory over Rutgers on Saturday.

Kilpatrick converted a three-point play and drove the lane for a layup in the final 68 seconds as the Bearcats (26-5, 15-3) rallied from a late deficit against the Scarlet Knights (11-20, 5-13).

In other AAC games Saturday, Joe Jackson scored 15 of his 18 points in the second half to lead No. 20 Memphis to a 67-58 victory over No. 18 SMU. … Montrezl Harrell scored 20 points, Russ Smith recorded a career-high 13 assists and No. 11 Louisville routed No. 19 Connecticut 81-48 to claim a share of the conference championship. … Quenton DeCosey hit a one-handed runner as time expired, lifting Temple to a 66-65 victory against South Florida.

ATLANTIC COAST Ga. Tech takes another

ATLANTA - Robert Carter Jr. scored 16 points, Daniel Miller and Trae Golden added 14 points and Georgia Tech beat Virginia Tech 62-51 Saturday in the regular season finale for both teams.

The Yellow Jackets (15-16, 6-12 Atlantic Coast Conference) have won two consecutive after ending a four-game skid with an upset victory at No. 7 Syracuse on Tuesday.

Joey van Zegeren finished with a career-high 21 points and seven rebounds for Virginia Tech (9-12, 2-16), which has dropped six in a row and 16 of 17.

In other ACC games, Garrius Adams scored 22 points to lead Miami to a 69-56 victory over Wake Forest. … Lamar Patterson had a career-high 30 points, including a three-pointer with 3 seconds left, as Pittsburgh overcame a five-point deficit in the final seconds of regulation and beat Clemson 83-78 in overtime. … Freshman Jabari Parker had a season-high 30 points with 11 rebounds to lead No. 4 Duke past No. 14 North Carolina 93-81.

St. John’s wins in 2OT

MILWAUKEE - D’Angelo Harrison scored 20 points and hit a clutch three-pointer in double overtime, Marquette’s Derrick Wilson missed a jumper with 1 second left and St. John’s held on for a 91-90 victory Saturday.

Rysheed Jordan went 1 of 2 at the line to give the Red Storm the lead before Marquette called timeout with 13.9 seconds left. Marquette couldn’t get a clean look for one of its top scorers, so Wilson took the shot that glanced off front of the rim at the buzzer.

St. John’s (20-11, 10-8 Big East) clinched the fifth seed in the league tournament.

In other Big East games, Darrun Hilliard scored 19 points to lead No. 6 Villanova to a dominating 77-59 victory over Georgetown, preserving the Wildcats’ hopes of a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament. … Kellen Dunham scored 29 points and made all seven of his three-pointers, leading Butler to a 71-54 rout over Seton Hall. … Doug McDermott scored a career-high 45 points and became the eighth player in Division I history to go over 3,000 for a career in helping Creighton roll past Providence 88-73.

BIG TEN Morgan helps Michigan

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Jordan Morgan, in his final home game, had his first double-double of the season, putting up 15 points and 10 rebounds to help No. 12 Michigan cap a night-long celebration with an 84-80 victory over Indiana.

Glenn Robinson III had 20 points for Michigan (23-7 15-3), including a tie-breaking three-pointer with 1:10 to play, while Nik Stauskas scored 21, furthering his case for Big Ten Player of the Year.

Will Sheehey led Indiana (17-14, 7-11) with 17 points, while Troy Williams and Yogi Ferrell added 16 apiece.

In another Big Ten game, Jon Ekey hit a three-pointer in the final second to lift Illinois to a 66-63 victory over No. 24 Iowa.PACIFIC-12

Oregon upsets Arizona

EUGENE, Ore. - Jason Calliste made the go-ahead jumper and free throw with 4:22 left and finished with 18 points as Oregon defeated No. 3 Arizona 64-57 Saturday for its seventh consecutive victory.

Johnathan Loyd added 16 points for the Ducks (22-8, 10-8 Pac-12) who greatly improved their chances of a bid in the NCAA Tournament.

Aaron Gordon had 21 points for the Wildcats (28-3, 15-3), who had already clinched the Pac-12 regular-season title heading into the conference tournament in Las Vegas.

In other Pac-12 games, Dwight Powell made a go-ahead free throw with 36.1 seconds remaining after Stanford missed seven consecutive from the line late, and the Cardinal held on to beat Utah 61-60. … Roberto Nelson scored six of his 15 points in overtime, including the go-ahead free throw with 2:50 remaining, to pace Oregon State to a 78-76 victory over Arizona State. … C.J. Wilcox scored 24 points in his final regular-season game and Andrew Andrews added 19 as Washington held off a late charge from Southern California for an 82-75 victory. … Justin Cobbs made a pair of free throws with 20.8 seconds left in overtime, and California kept alive its slim NCAA tournament hopes with a 66-65 victory over Colorado.
