The John Q. Hammons Center in Rogers was one-stop shopping on Feb. 22 as three nonprofit organizations gathered for events there.

Gladys Knight and Patti LaBelle added star power to the NAACP Image Awards Viewing Event presented by the Northwest Arkansas Branch of the NAACP.

Guests at the black tie event were greeted with a blue carpet reception, replete with a step-and-repeat photo opp.

The local branch, chartered in November 2013, boasts more than 130 founding members.

Those attending the viewing event included Sharonda Britton, Alvis Washington, Jeff Stallings, Mille Alderman, Regine Moore, Wanda Young, Tom Hoehn, Aaron Tucker, Latriece Watkins, John L Colbert, Tai Beauchamp and Ronetta and Earl Francis.

The Razorback Foundation's annual Red Tie Dinner and Auction: Salute to Excellence drew a record crowd of more than 650 who helped bring in more than $100,000.

The fundraiser is an opportunity for the foundation to recognize outstanding Razorback student athletes.

The 2014 honorees are:

m Keri Wood McLary and Nathanael Franks -- Scholar-Athletes of the Year,

m Makeba Alcide and Kevin Lazas -- Razorback Athletes of the Year and

m Bailee Zumwald and Kiero Small -- Razorback Spirit Award.

Among those helping the foundation support scholarships were Marilyn Bogle, Gen and Frank Broyles, Jane and UA Chancellor Dave Gearhart, Nana and Julian Stewart, Angela and Mark Waldrip, Fanny and Jeff Long, Lewis Epley, Jen and Bret Bielema, Boyce Billingsley, Randy and Valorie Lawson, Betsy and Loyd Phillips and Charles Ballentine.

St. Vincent de Paul School marked another banner year for the Tapas and Tinis fundraiser, with some 500 supporters helping the school. A fund drive that evening more than doubled the $12,000 goal, netting $32,000.

Among those helping support the school were Katie and Taylor Smith, Nancy and Dick Trammel, Luisa and Chris Lampson, Suzanne and Joe Spivey, Kristen and Scott Caldwell, Arist Mastorides, Jana and Chris Harral, Monica and George Diaz and Jennifer and Scott Pleiman.
