UALR took a lead into the bottom of the ninth Friday in Oxford, Miss., but Mississippi tied the game in the bottom of the ninth and won in extra innings.
The Trojans took a 1-0 lead in the seventh as Mitchell Scheuler led off with a single up the middle off reliever Josh Laxer. Scheuler advanced to third on consecutive sacrifice bunts and scored when Ben Crumpton reached on an error.
Mississippi (12-2) tied the game in the bottom of the ninth. With one out and a runner on second, pinch-hitter Brantley Bell singled to left field. The runner on second tried to score, but left fielder Tanner Rockwell threw him out at home. Henri Lartigue hit a fly ball to left field with two outs, but miscommunication between Rockwell and Bryson Thionnet resulted in an error that allowed Bell to score.
Bell also figured in the game-winning run.
A leadoff double, a sacrifice bunt and a hit batter loaded the bases for the Rebels, and Bell singled to left center to secure the victory.
SOUTHLAND C. ARKANSAS 4, MEMPHIS 2 (17)
Central Arkansas got a two-out single in the 17th inning and scored three runs in the inning to outlast Memphis at FedEx Park.
The rally started with a hit batter, a sacrifice bunt and a groundout, which put the go-ahead run at third base with two outs. After a walk put runners at first base and third, Justin Treece singled to give the Bears a 2-1 lead.
A throwing error on a chopper in front of the plate scored another run for UCA (7-4), and a passed ball brought in the third run.
