SUN BELT MISSISSIPPI 2, UALR 1 (10)

UALR took a lead into the bottom of the ninth Friday in Oxford, Miss., but Mississippi tied the game in the bottom of the ninth and won in extra innings.

The Trojans took a 1-0 lead in the seventh as Mitchell Scheuler led off with a single up the middle off reliever Josh Laxer. Scheuler advanced to third on consecutive sacrifice bunts and scored when Ben Crumpton reached on an error.

Mississippi (12-2) tied the game in the bottom of the ninth. With one out and a runner on second, pinch-hitter Brantley Bell singled to left field. The runner on second tried to score, but left fielder Tanner Rockwell threw him out at home. Henri Lartigue hit a fly ball to left field with two outs, but miscommunication between Rockwell and Bryson Thionnet resulted in an error that allowed Bell to score.

Bell also figured in the game-winning run.

A leadoff double, a sacrifice bunt and a hit batter loaded the bases for the Rebels, and Bell singled to left center to secure the victory.
