Burn Planned Friday At Lake Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE -- The city plans to burn land near Lake Fayetteville today if the weather is suitable.

The burn will be on the dam and 40 acres north of the Environmental Study Center on Lakeview Drive, according to a news release.

The trails from Veteran's Memorial Park to the Lake Fayetteville Marina will be closed during the dam burn. The trails from the Environmental Study Center north around the lake to the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks will be closed while the 40-acres are burned.

The burn is to restore the natural vegetation, help prairie restoration and reduce the threat of wildfire.

If the weather isn't suitable, the burn will be rescheduled.
