Bella Vista Crash Leaves One Dead

BELLA VISTA -- One man was killed and another injured in a four-vehicle wreck early Thursday morning.

A Chevrolet Avalanche and Ford Escape collided just before 7:30 a.m. in the southbound lane on Bella Vista Way, south of Kingsland Road.

The dead man was a passenger in the Escape. He was pronounced dead at Northwest Medical Center-Bentonville.

Traffic was backed up and two other vehicles were hit in a chain reaction, said Capt. Tim Cook of the Bella Vista police.

The Escape's driver was taken to Mercy Medical Center in Rogers and was later airlifted to Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Mo., according to police.

The driver of the Avalanche wasn't taken to a hospital, Cook said.

The crash remains under investigation. Police haven't released names, Cook said.
