Volunteers don dancing shoes

Five Northwest Arkansas business and community leaders will don dancing shoes in support of the Amazeum at the children's museum's seventh annual Dancing With the Stars of Northwest Arkansas Saturday. The five celebrity dancers on this year's roster are Tina Winham of Nuk, Cindy Mac Naughton, community volunteer, Missy Clifton of Premiere Dermotology, Wyley Elliott of Celebrate Magazine and Rod Bigelow of Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.

The five will compete for the People's Choice Award, decided by who raises the most money for the charity, and the Judges' Award. This year's celebrity judges are Annetta Young of Tyson, Marshall Ney of Mitchell Williams Law Firm and Don Bacigalupi of Crystal Bridges. Young danced in the 2013 competition.

Contestants have spent the past several weeks rehearsing with their dancing partners, professional dance instructors Ellis Wyre, Christian Sanchez, Michael Schreiber, Anna Sanders and Amy Hulse.

Along with the main event, the fundraiser will include a seated dinner and live and silent auctions. Items on the live auction block include a Chocolate Town USA trip package donated by the Hershey Company, four tickets to attend the invitation-only Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards in 2014 or 2015 and a foursome golf outing in Florida with Lee Scott.

Proceeds from the event will go toward the museum's $28 million capital campaign. Holly Hook, capital campaign director, said the nonprofit organization has reached $23 million and will announce a date for the museum's groundbreaking. The museum will be on J Street in Bentonville, near the entrance to Crystal Bridges.
