Springdale Residents To Glimpse New Route, Changes To Old Route Thursday

— Residents will have a chance to see plans for Springdale bus routes from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Art Center of the Ozarks, according to a news release.

Ozark Regional Transit has been developing a new bus route in Springdaleconnecting the NorthWest Arkansas Community College campus in Washington County, The Jones Center and Walmart on Thompson Avenue. Under the plan, Route 43 will stop accessing the college's Washington County campus and will travel through Johnson.

Transit officials plan an open house style meeting to get community input on bus service levels, route alignment and bus stop locations. Last month, transit officials met with residents in Rogers and Fayetteville.

The route changes are part of an initiative to better connect bus services throughout Northwest Arkansas, transit officials said previously. In late 2013, Springdale and other entities authorized more money for Ozark Regional Transit to increase availability.

The meeting will feature displays of route options and timetables under consideration for implementation. Transit staff will be available to explain the route proposal, answer questions and record comments.
