One killed in Bella Vista wreck

One man died and another was injured in a two-vehicle wreck early Thursday morning.

A Ford Escape and a Chevrolet Avalanche collided just before 7:30 a.m. in the southbound lane on Bella Vista Way, south of Kingsland Road.

The male driver of the Escape was transported by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center in Rogers and was then airlifted to Mercy in Springfield, Mo., according to Bella Vista emergency officials.

Police have not yet released the name and age of the deceased, as the wreck is under investigation, Capt. Tim Cook said.

The male passenger of the Escape was transported by ambulance to Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville, where he was pronounced dead.

Bella Vista police are investigating the crash.
